Ethical Hacking: Start Here
The one rule
If you don't own the system and don't have written permission, don't touch it. Unauthorized access is illegal (in the US, under laws like the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act). This site never teaches attacks on systems you don't own.
Where to practice legally
- Hack The Box: authorized labs and guided learning paths.
- TryHackMe: beginner-friendly browser-based rooms.
- Your own home lab: old PCs or virtual machines you own.
A sensible path
- Networking and Linux basics.
- Beginner lab rooms.
- Entry certs such as CompTIA Security+.
- Hands-on certs later (e.g. Hack The Box CPTS, OSCP) if you want a pentesting career.
Education only. No outcomes, jobs or certifications are guaranteed.
