Privacy Starter Kit
Two minutes of hygiene beats a week of worry.
1. Unique passwords + a password manager
Reused passwords are how one breach becomes ten. A password manager generates and remembers a unique password for every site. Start with email and banking.
2. Turn on 2FA
Use an authenticator app or hardware key where you can; SMS codes are better than nothing. Protect your email account first, since it resets everything else.
3. Check for breaches
Search your email at Have I Been Pwned. If it shows up, change that password and anywhere you reused it.
4. VPN on public Wi-Fi
A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server, which helps on untrusted networks like hotels and cafés, and hides your browsing from that local network.
What a VPN does NOT do: it doesn't fix reused or weak passwords, stop phishing, remove malware, or make you anonymous. You're shifting trust to the VPN provider.
Lock it down, power it up.
